Half-Year Book Tag 2022

Hey everyone! While it is a month past the mid-year point of the year, I thought I would get around to doing this tag to go over some of the books I’ve read through this year. Let’s get right into the tag!

FAVORITE STANDALONE BOOK HAULED AND READ SO FAR IN 202040367270

I haven’t hauled many books, and haven’t read any of the few I’ve hauled, but Four Dead Queens was my favorite standalone that I read so far this year. It was a twisty, suspenseful read that combined my two favorite genres-fantasy and mystery.

FAVORITE SERIES THAT I STARTED OR CONTINUED TO READ IN 2020

52439531

I’ve only really read one book in a series so far year, and it happened to be my favorite book of the year so far, The Inheritance Games. Everything I’ve read by Jennifer Lynn Barnes has been fabulous, and this was no exception. If it wasn’t for me trying to get through my enormous TBR, I would’ve bought and read the sequels in this series right away. Hopefully I will get around to them soon enough!

FAVORITE BOOKISH ITEMS PURCHASED OR RECEIVED THIS YEAR

I can’t say I have anything that qualifies for this category!

FAVORITE DEBUT READ

26240663

I believe this question is asking for a debut released in 2022, I have not read any 2022 releases. However, Seven Ways We Lie was Riley Redgate’s debut back in 2016, and I got around to reading it a few months ago and absolutely loved it. This book was a melodramatic contemporary that I absolutely ate up, and definitely think deserves more hype.

FAVORITE UNDERHYPED BOOK THAT I READ THIS YEAR

55272121

While I would say Four Dead Queens would be my selection for this category, I thought I would spread the love to another underrated read, The Suicide House. This was one of the most addicting and suspenseful books I’ve ever read, and I basically read the entire novel on a single plane ride. I am very surprised this does not get more attention, because it certainly deserves it.

FAVORITE BOOK READ THIS YEAR THAT YOU WERE LATE TO THE PARTY ON

79885

Michael Connelly is a very successful author that writes novels that seem like they would be right up my alley, and that is exactly what The Lincoln Lawyer was. This novel is his most popular, and I fully understand why. It was thrilling, to say the least, and I’ve glad I finally got around to giving it a try.

POTENTIAL FAVORITE THAT YOU HAVEN’T GOTTEN AROUND TO READING YET

Family of Liars by E. Lockhart

We Were Liars is one of the most iconic YA novels of all times, and I was stunned by it when I read it years ago. As a result, I am expecting something perfectly wild from Family of Liars, the newly released prequel by E. Lockhart. While it will be hard to live up to the original novel, I have high hopes that I will love this when I get around to reading it.

FAVORITE REREAD IN 2020

I haven’t reread anything this year!

FAVORITE COVER ON A BOOK RELEASED THIS YEAR

Book cover for Echoes and Empires by Morgan Rhodes

It is hard to pick just one cover, but this one for Echoes and Empires, the first book in Morgan Rhodes’s first fantasy series, is undeniably captivating.
