My Goodreads Review:

My goodness. This was a masterpiece. Easily an ultimate favorite read of mine. I loved every second of it.

I was not certain if I would love this or not, as historical fiction is out of my comfort zone. However, I absolutely adored this story. The characters are all-times favorites of mine; easy to empathize with and root for. The suspense brought about by elements of foreshadowing kept me on the edge of my seat. The extremely short chapters, which I was hesitant about, kept the story moving at lightning speed. The emotional aspect was immersing, especially at the end of the book. My heart nearly leapt out of my chest multiple times when the inevitable disaster struck. It was raw and real.

I can not recommend this enough. I think any person at any age could enjoy this, and I think it is a really eye-opening read about a tragedy that does not receive the recognition it deserves. If anyone is hesitant to read this because it is out of your comfort zone, I can assure you that you will love it like I did. I almost never reread books, but I’m tempted to read it all again right now. Either way, I will think about Salt to the Sea for a long time.
