Goodreads Review:

This was definitely not what I expected. To be honest, the setting and writing felt like a completely different world than the Hunger Games trilogy. At some points, it almost read like fan-fiction.

Heading in, I expected to see Snow’s descent into villainy, and we didn’t really see much of that at all. Either way, this was a worthwhile read. I was riveted for good portions of this book. I think the strongest moments were the ones surrounding the leadup to the Hunger Games and the actual games. Also, the background of some of the key parts of the games Katniss went through (betting, sponsors, cannons) was fun to see play out. Despite all that, I definitely lost some interest in the last portion of the novel, and the ending was a little jarring for my taste.

If you liked the Hunger Games, I definitely think you should read this!
